We Met on match.com

Well kinda...

It all begins back in 2010, one night when Jess was assisting April on her ventures through match.com. After many glasses of wine and winking at potential suitors for April, she winked at Mike. Mike proposed to April, after 2 years of dating.  

In 2012, Matt & Jess were paired up in the wedding party at Mike & April's wedding. At the reception, after about eight Natty Boh's, Matt worked up the courage to ask Jess to dance. What followed can only be described as the most awkward, whitest dancing ever recorded (see Mike for the footage). Even after this embarrassing display, Jess agreed to go on a date with Matt...

On their first date, Matt forgot his wallet. Seriously. Who does that?! After being bailed out by his boss-turned-ATM the evening, nervously continued at Sushi Sono in Columbia and then Judge's Bench in Ellicott City, where only Jess was able to have a beer (since Matt was without his wallet). Oh and the wallet was hiding in the car the whole time. 

He Proposed

Research, research, research. As with all purchases, Matt put in exhaustive and extensive research into the ring. Luckily for him, Jess dropped a few well-timed hints about what she wanted. After hiding the ring while waiting for Christmas day, Matt planned his proposal. On Christmas morning, he donned a sweatshirt coated in wrapping paper, ring hidden in the front pocket. Jess had no idea what was going on when Matt exclaimed, "I'm your present!" looking slightly stupid dressed in kwanzaa and candy cane paper. After finding the ring box while unwrapping Matt, Jess knew exactly what was next. A simple "Marry Me!" was all Matt could muster as his brain shut down temporarily in the gravity of the moment. Through tears and giggling, Jess answered Yes.
